Without our many volunteers and coaches, our local youth would not have the opportunities to learn, grow and play the sports they love! We're always on the hunt for great people who share our passion of making it all about the kids! Coaching Info
If you're interested in becoming a coach at NCO, we should chat! All North Catawba Optimist coaches are subject to a background check and must align with and adhere to our Coaches Creed below.
North Catawba Optimist Coaches Creed
As an NCO coach, I agree to strive to adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Code of Ethics. As such, I agree to strive to set an example for the kids that I coach and coach against both by my words and by my behavior. I will abide by all rules that may apply to the sport I am coaching including those of any applicable National Organization and any and all modifications of those rules specific to the NCO athletic programs.
It is required that all coaches read and familiarize themselves with these rules and it is strongly recommended that each head coach print and keep a copy of the rules in his/her possession at the field/court during each and every game throughout the season to enable easy reference in the event of any uncertainties that may arise.

- I agree to resolve any and all disputes relating to rule interpretations (or otherwise) in a gentlemanly fashion with the opposing coach and or umpires as may be applicable and to address any matters which may require future resolution with the Optimist President to avoid a recurrence of future issues of a similar nature.
- I agree to treat all persons involved in the program including children, opposing coaches parents and umpire with dignity and respect and address any disputes or concerns in a responsible and dignified manner.
- I agree to strive to foster a competitive spirit in which sportsmanship, mutual respect and fair play remain an integral part of the overall sporting experience.
- I understand and agree that in the event of any violation or serious breach of the code of conduct outlined herein will result in disciplinary action up to being relieved of my coaching duties.
